MPPT CHARGE CONTROLLERS
What is MPPT and how does it work?
Blue Sky Energy, Inc. pioneered Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) technology years ago, and this is why we chose their charge controls to be an integral part of the Solar Stik™ System. There are three factors that affect a solar panel's ability to generate power:
1. Direct sunlight
2. Cool operating temperatures (good air circulation around the panels)
3. MPPT charge controls
Utilizing MPPT technology, Blue Sky Energy charge controllers allow photovoltaic (PV) panels to operate at their rated output Voltage, which is often much higher than battery Voltage. Non-MPPT charge controls force solar panels to operate at the battery's Voltage, resulting in a reduction of panel output power to the batteries.
Using MPPT charge controls will result in an increase in current flow supplied from any Solar Stik™ solar panel array, up to 30% higher than the "industry standard" solar-to-battery connection. In addition, the digital displays on the Solar Boost™ charge controls allows the user to monitor solar panel output current, battery system Voltage, and more. This display also aids in determining the proper inclination of the Solar Stik's™ solar panels when it is connected.

The Blue Sky Energy Inc. website contains an impressive amount of useful information. There you will find detailed recommendations and knowledge ranging from batteries to solar cells. Great time and effort have been put into the information they have made available, and we HIGHLY recommend a visit to their website.
