The RECON Pak

ITEM # 005070

The Pro-Series RECON Pak

ITEM # 010601

Why choose a Solar Stik™ RECON Pak over other competing Flexible Panel Systems?

The problems with most traditional "flexible solar panel power systems" are that they produce too little power to be truly useful, they require the user to stop in the middle of the day to recharge their appliance or battery, they will often charge only one device at a time, and too often the wrong panel technology is used for the intended application

The Solar Stik™ Flexi-Panel Paks are the result of a intensive study into traditional portable solar power (flexible panel technologies), real-world field applications, and the integration of Solar Stik's™ innovative approach to
portable power.

The superiority of the Solar Stik™ designs are realized from actual field operations and interaction with the operators.

The RECON Pak is ideal for highly mobile applications where short-duration sun exposure must yield a high power gain, reducing "down-time".

It generates and stores power, which can be transferred to appliances as necessary, day or night.

The Solar Stik™ RECON Pak is a "Medium-duty" flexible solar panel generator.

TWO-Case Solution

The RECON Pak provides the operator with a "two-case" power solution.  The four 60 Watt PowerFilm™ Panels, ground securing materials, & 36' cables are stored in a Pelican™ 1520 Case,

and the Pro-Series Power Pak 50.

(shown below)

The PowerFilm™ solar panels can produce up to
ONE Kilowatt-hour of usable power per day.

The Pro-Series Power Pak 50 can store up to
.6 Kilowatt-hour of usable power.

Only the best technologies and equipment are employed in the
RECON Pak. Please visit the following pages to learn more about them and how they will benefit the user better than other similar systems:

Amorphous Silicon vs. CIGS thin-film solar panel technologies

The Power Pak - an Overview

THE RECON PAK OVERVIEW

Potent

The RECON Pak implements multiple, highly-effective solar technologies into a twin case, "easy to use" system requiring nothing more than sunlight to operate

Versatile

Powerfilm's™ amorphous silicon flexible solar panels and the Power Pak 50 combine to create a "bridge" for the operator, providing greater results, versatility and mobility.

Portable

Two-case solution, D.O.T approved for Air, Sea & Land transport

The RECON Pak is a single Power Pak 50 (Standard or Pro-Series)

& four foldable 60 Watt foldable PowerFilm™ panels stored in a Pelican™ 1520 case.

Choose either the

The Power Pak 50

or

The Pro-Series Power Pak 50

Compact & powerful, and simple to operate

The Power Pak can provide 12VDC power while simultaneously connected to the Solar Panels, or independently from the batteries. Once the internal AGM battery bank is charged, the power can be transferred to appliances as necessary.

Weatherproof 12VDC receptacles mounted externally provide access to power when the case is closed due to inclement weather, or simply as a matter of convenience if the operator is in a hurry.

PowerFilm™ Amorphous Silicon Panels

240 Watts of pure DC power generation!

"Bridge" Operation

The Power Pak 50 can be used with other equipment such as the MRC-85 Military Battery Charger/Conditioner (shown above).

Unlike the old methods of charging one battery at a time from a flexible solar panel, the RECON PAK can be used to charge multiple devices at once, allowing for shorter down-times.

PowerFilm's™ Amorphous Silicon vs. C.I.G.S. Thin Film Panels:

1. Ruggedness - The PowerFilm™ panel technologies are physically MUCH stronger than other comparative thin-film technologies. The construction of the PowerFilm™ panel is performed using a plastic substrate, yielding lighter weight and increased panel flexibility compared to CIGS. It can handle the abuse and punishment that is often experienced during the "real-world" conditions of military, disaster-relief, and humanitarian operations.

2. Temperature Dependency - With any thin film solar panel, heat is a major factor in the panel's ability to produce power. Compared to amorphous silicon thin-film, the power degradation of CIGS is three times as high, so for every degree that the temperature of the photovoltaic cell rises, the panel loses three times the power output as compared to the amorphous silicon panel.

3. Storage Resistant - As with most mobile applications, transport conditions often expose the panel to high heat. It is not uncommon to store a thin-film panel in a dark place such as a protective case, vehicle trunk, or man-pack. Exposure to HIGH HEAT in DARK environments has a detrimental impact on the CIGS panel technologies. It is typical for a CIGS panel to require "Light Soaking" after dark, hot storage conditions before it can be used. It can often take as much as 72 hours of direct exposure to sunlight for a CIGS panel to regain its rated power generating capabilities. Unlike CIGS thin-film, the amorphous silicon thin-film panel will produce its rated power immediately after exposure to high heat and dark conditions. It's ability to operate at rated capacity is NOT degraded after high heat exposure in dark environments, which is a critical factor in most mobile applications where power may be demanded at a moment's notice in austere conditions.

A CIGS panel DOES have a slightly higher rated output per square foot of surface area (efficiency) than the amorphous silicon panel, however, the tendency for a CIGS thin-film panel to degrade its output due to cell heat usually negates any power gain that the CIGS panel provides.

Applications

Wide spectrum of applicability including Military, Emergency Power, Recreational, (RV, camping), Marine, Research and Energy sectors, Construction Industry, Agriculture, Remote Location Power, and more.

Powerful

Can store enough power in one day to support a 24-hour (day or night) cycle of low-power draw.  Average daily production is 50 Amp-Hours (about .5 Kilowatt-hour) 12VDC power.  It can provide power to multiple appliances (rechargeable appliances, tools, computers, tactical gear, communications equipment, & more).

Expandable

The RECON Pak can be expanded to accommodate for higher power requirements:

The Flexi-Panel Expander Pak provides a Y-connector leash and PowerFilm™ 60 Watt that can be added to the RECON Pak.  The addition of a fifth solar panel (shown below) provides the operator with 300 Watts of power, boosting the daily power gain to nearly 70 Amp hours.  The fifth panel can be stored in the same case that stores the PowerFilm™ panels.

The Flexi-Panel Expander Pak

The Power Pak 50 can also be expanded by connecting additional Power Paks (shown below), or other 12VDC batteries using the Omni Cable Pak.

FEATURES

The RECON PAK is a silent, clean DC power source, and does not produce or require the use of hazardous chemicals or toxic fumes.

Average daily production is 100 Amp-Hours (about 1 Kilowatt-hour)

12VDC power

Lightweight & Portable - Unit can be deployed by one person in less than five minutes

“Plug & Play” operation - The System has simple features and is user-friendly. No tools required for assembly

36' power leash allows placement of Power Pak well away from the panel location.  This allows a more comfortable location for the operator and more sun exposure for the panels as they can be placed away from trees or structures that can block sunlight

Aluminum ground stakes and storage pouch

12 Volt DC Adapter allows for a single panel to be removed from the Pak and used directly with an appliance.  This is important for field-operation where "versatility" is paramount.

Very little maintenance is required to keep the RECON Pak functional

The RECON Pak has a 3 year “materials and workmanship” and a 5 year “power output” warranty

Built in the USA using the highest-grade materials
